Your child’s vision plays an important part in their development. Their eyes should be examined on a regular basis as early intervention may be the key to treating vision problems and disease. Routine medical exams for children by age are listed below.
Should be checked for general eye health by a pediatrician. High-risk children with a family history of eye problems and those with obvious eye irregularities should be examined by a pediatric ophthalmologist.
3 – 5 Years
Health screenings and visual acuity tests should be given by a pediatrician or family doctor.
After 5 Years
Routine screenings should be given. Children who wear prescription glasses or contacts should have annual checkups by an eye doctor to screen for vision changes.
